MUET...MeNgHaNtUiKu...

bismillahirrahmanirrahim..
hey,MUET is just around the corner..!!
i'm also a candidate who will be sit for the coming MUET test..
so lets speaks english from today!
yo! what's your preparation to face this exam?
aiseh,macam ayat darjah tiga jer ni...xnak cakap da...
actually x pandai sangat berskiping berspeaking ni..
maklomlah da lame tinggal bi..ceh,bajet bertaun2 plak da..padahal baru satu sem meninggalkan bahasa itu..
ok lah,memandangkan masa sedang menjelesi saya sekarang ni,saya berterus terang saja la..
sebenarnya saya nak share cket tentang MUYET ni...
ni saya salin dan tampalkan kat blog saya..






Here are some useful tips for the coming speaking test.

General Guidelines in Speaking: MARKS FOR SPEAKING [45/300]
TIME [30 MINUTES]

Task A in Speaking component of the MUET.

-Given 2 minutes to prepare

-Arrange your thoughts logically and systematically

-Arrange your points and ideas in a mind map

-It will enable you to present the context of the questions thoroughly
 without missing out important details.

-*mind map helps to show a cause & effect relationship between
 ideas and links ideas systematically.

-When preparing a mind map, follow the Wh guidelines  (what,where,when,who,why,which,how)

-Impress the examiners that you are a candidate with the edge.
 Give examples from real life encounters.Prove that you have
 sufficient general knowledge.


Task B

Learn the basic language functions in a group discussion,such as to ask for and give opinion, to agree, to further support, to disagree, to interrupt, to sum up ideas, etc.

-You are given 10 minutes to come to a general agreement.

-Lead the discussion slowly to a conclusion

-Show initiative. Do not wait to speak, until spoken to.
 Make sure you are heard, not just seen.

-Do not let the discussion die down or reach a dead end.
 Keep finding avenues of discussion and be able to sustain the
 discussion for 10 minutes.

-Encourage the shy ones in your group to speak up by seeking
 their opinions, so that they will not be left out of the discussion.

-Likewise, intervene appropriately, when you find one or two
 persons dominating the discussion.



EXAMPLE OF SITTING ARRANGEMENT



1.Participating in a conversation or a discussion may involve the following:
a)Starting or joining a conversation/discussion
-Excuse me, can we discuss the topic now?
-I would like to start the discussion by saying that...
-I believe that genetically-modified food is harmfull...
-Excuse me, would you like to start first?
-I believe students today don't speak good English because...



b)Interrupting a conversation/discussion

-Excuse me, can i say something?
-Sorry to interrupt,but...
-Excuse me,could you please repeat...?
-Excuse me,could you please clarify...?
-Excuse me,but isn,t it true that...?



c)Maintaining a conversation/discussion

-
Can you please explain further...
-Well, I beg to differ...
-Let me explain how we can go about it...
-Your suggestion is good, but it may not be practical...
-As far as I'm concerned, I would like to...



d)Ending a conversation/discussion

-
Well, that's all I have to say.
-It's been an interesting discussion.
-That's my suggestion for the English Language Week.
-To conclude, I would like to suggest that we write to the press.



2.Use suitable social conventions and be polite in your conversation or discussion.

3.In a group discussion, there may be a facilitator or chairman who will start, maintain and end the discussion, he may have to round up what the speakers have said in the discussion.

What you should aim for:

Accuracy: -how to use grammatically correct language.
- how to use correct pronunciation, stress and intonation

Fluency: -how to speak with confidence and fluently



TIME MANAGEMENT

Task A
preparation time: 2 minutes
presentation time: 2 minutes
Task B
preparation time: 2 minutes
presentation time: 10 minutes as a group

Tips on how to score for the Speaking Test

  • Read the situation and task carefully to know what you have to do
  • Plan what you want to say by listing the points on a paper. Rearrange the points so that the more inportant points come first (note that elaboration is very important.make sure you elaborate your point cleary)
  • Make sure that you introduce yourself first and inform the others what your task is.
  • Ensure that your input has convincing opening.
  • Move on to develop your points
  • conclude with satisfying conclusion..(if your already reach the time given but haven't conclude your points..just end the points without conclusion[Task A only]...eg:thats all from me thank you)
